Enzo Maresca has recalled a formerly exiled Chelsea player to training in what has been described as a 'shock U-turn'.
Moving from Championship winners Leicester City this summer, Maresca wasted no time in showing authority as many players were banished from the first-team squad and sent to train away from them.
One of those high profile players was Raheem Sterling, who was excluded from the match-day squad versus Manchester City on the opening day of the season.
Since then, Sterling has secured a high-profile loan move to London rivals Arsenal, where he will likely play in a huge clash versus Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
Göztepe SK have also recently agreed a loan deal with Chelsea for David Datro Fofana after his AEK Athens move collapsed.
However, a player that was removed from the first-team training and now is likely to return in a remarkable turn of events is Ben Chilwell.
Speaking in a pre-match press conference, Maresca made his intentions clear on the player:
"Ben is just about the only one [of players the club wanted to loan or sell] still here.
"We are going to sit with him and find a solution. He’s probably going to be back with us in training, because he's doing that at the moment.
"He was training apart because the idea was for him to leave, but probably now he’s going to start training with us."
Chilwell was often linked with a potential move away to Manchester United this summer, however the Red Devils didn't lodge a formal offer in the end.
