In the latest in a long line of boomer humour attempts at trying to remain relevant, Elon Musk has changed his name on X to something rather bizarre.
Musk, who owns the platform, is known to use (usually out of date) memes very heavily, and that's certainly the case here.
He's changed his name on X to... drum roll... Kekius Maximus.
Musk, sorry Maximus, also changed his profile picture to that of infamous Pepe the Frog, who was once somewhat of a mascot of a certain brand of alt-right internet memery.
But while the name might just sound like some veiled Gladiator reference, in fact the reference is to something altogether more technological and speculative: cryptocurrency.
There is in fact a cryptocurrency of the same name which has become rather popular in recent days, so this will further increase the price of the currency among Musk fanboys.
At the point of writing, some reports have the price surge for the currency standing at anywhere between 400-800%.
Another coin called Pepe, in reference to our aforementioned friend mr Frog, also surged in price after the change.
Many people in the cryptocurrency world are excited by this continued engagement from Musk in their markets. It could also be argued this points towards a broader trend when incoming president Donald Trump takes office.
Many expect Mr Trump to be 'crypto-friendly' when it comes to regulating and legislating for these highly speculative and notoriously unstable forms of financial speculation.
Trump's reelection to office sparked not only an increase in the value of the US Dollar, but it also preceded a huge spike in the value of Bitcoin, which reached all time high values not long after.
