Sheila Bernette, the star of the ITV soap Coronation Street and the BBC variety show Good Old Days, has died aged 94.
She played Sister Delaney in the 1970s soap, and between 1968 and 1983 appeared in the variety show Good Old Days.
Tribute to Bernette was paid in a statement which was shared by Royal Variety Charity.
“Sheila will be very much missed by many of those who worked with her and those from the wider theatrical family”, it read.
The actress, born Sheila Poncini, worked with David Jason and comedians Morecambe and Wise as well as Dick Emery, Leslie Crowther and Tommy Cooper, during her illustrious career.
In addition to her TV work, she also had several film roles, including Three For All, Car Trouble and Driving Aphrodite.
She also made an appearance in the UK version of Candid Camera and starred in CBB children's show Hotel Trubble, a role that later generations may remember her best for.
Her final film role was in 2009 in Driving Aphrodite.
Bernette was also known for her comedy roles and she appeared on-screen with many famous faces from the comedy world, in addition to her acting career.
