Concern grows for Cardiff player as flight disappears near Channel Islands

Concern is growing for Cardiff City's Argentine footballer, Emiliano Sala, who is feared to have been one of two people on board a plane which disappeared close near the Channel Islands. The Piper Malibu aircraft was travelling from Nantes in northern France to Cardiff on Monday night when it went missing from radar screens near the Casquets lighthouse, 13km north-west of Alderney. Cardiff Airport have confirmed the aircraft was due to arrive from Nantes but there were 'no further details' a this stage. Coastguard rescue helicopters from Alderney and Guernsey RNLI have joined a search of the area close to where the plane disappeared.
