English singer songwriter and frontman of the 70's rock band Cockney Rebel, Steve Harley, died at his Suffolk home this morning aged 73.
Harley rose to fame in the early 1970's thanks to hits including Make Me Smile and Here Comes The Sun.
In a statement posted to Facebook, his family wrote: "We are devastated to announce that our wonderful husband and father has passed away peacefully at home, with his family by his side.
"The birdsong from his woodland that he loved so much was singing for him.
"Whoever you know him as, his heart exuded only core elements. Passion, kindness, generosity. And much more, in abundance."
Earlier this year, Harley was forced to announce that he could not commit to any concerts in 2024 due to ill health.
A statement released at the time read: "Due to on-going treatment for cancer, Steve cannot commit to any concerts in 2024."
Tributes have been pouring in for the musician on social media.
