“Cheshire police have launched an investigation following an attempted burglary at an address in Prestbury," a police statement read. "The incident is believed to have occurred at approximately 9pm on Wednesday 3 August in the Chelford Road area.
“Officers went to the address and conducted a full search of the local area and were unable to find any trace of the offender.”
The area, a popular one among footballers, has seen its fair share of robberies in the past. Properties owned by Peter Crouch in Cheshire were burgled in 2006 and 2011, and Phil Jagielka was robbed at knifepoint while he was watching television at his home in Knutsford in 2009.
Cheshire police are being kept busy.
