British couple missing in Spanish floods found dead, family confirm

More than 200 people have died in the floods

Staffordshire couple Don Turner, 78, and his wife, Terry, 74, had not been seen since huge downpours hit Valencia last week.

Their daughter Ruth O'Loughlin has since confirmed their bodies were found in their car on Saturday.

They were discovered in a sparsely-populated area near the small town of Pedralba, where they lived, a 45-minute drive north-west of Valencia.

O'Loughlin told the BBC her parents had moved to Spain about 10 years ago because they "always wanted to live in the sunshine".

She had been told her parents were missing on Thursday, after friends discovered they weren't at home after going to check on them.

Last week it was revealed a British 71-year-old had died in hospital after being rescued from his flooded home near Malaga.

At least 205 people have been killed in the floods, which are the worst to ever hit Spain.

Rescue efforts are still underway to try and find any survivors.
