A British bar chain has collapsed into administration, leaving all of its sites at risk of closure.
The decision comes after a period of "challenging" trading, despite the venue being backed by an England star and having 16 locations across the country.
Sixes is a cricket-themed entertainment bar which had previously received funding from a range of England cricket stars.
The venue announced late last week that the company had fallen into administration and that its Southampton venue would be closing.
Administrators have said, however, that its other locations would remain open while negotiations get underway for a rescue deal.
Discussion have begun with "a number of interested parties about a sale", as per administration group FRP Advisory.
Sixes was founded in 2020 by Calum Mackinnon and Andy Waugh, and in 2023 received funding from 4Cast Investment Group which includes England cricket stars Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer and Stuart Broad.
Tony Wright, joint administrator and partner at FRP, told the Independent: “Sixes has built a strong brand in the social entertainment space with its unique venues proving very popular with customers.
“While some locations have struggled in an increasingly competitive market, the business has significant potential, and we’re encouraged by the early interest we’ve received from parties interested in acquiring the brand and its strongest-performing sites.
“Our priority is to secure the best outcome for the business and its stakeholders while ensuring customers can continue to enjoy their bookings through the Christmas period and beyond.
“We’re confident that with the right investment and focus, Sixes can build on its core strengths.”
