A body has been found close to where the two sisters who went missing earlier this month were last seen in Abderdeen.
Henrietta and Eliza Huszti, both 32, were last seen near the River Dee on January 7, reports BBC News.
Police Scotland have said: "The body has been recovered from the water and inquiries are ongoing."
The pair were last seen crossing Victoria Bridge in the direction Aberdeen Boat Club.
Since their disappearance a major police operation has been underway.
Police Scotland previously said that there is no evidence of the women leaving the immediate area and have claimed there is nothing to suggest ‘suspicious criminal activity’.
Police Scotland revealed two weeks ago that the sisters made an earlier visit to the bridge where they were last seen.
CCTV shows Eliza and Henrietta spent five minutes at the footpath and the Victoria Bridge but did not engage with anyone else.
After visiting the bridge, the sisters made their way back through the city centre to their flat.
Police also shared a final text message sent from Henrietta’s mobile to their landlady at the same time they went missing, 2.12am on January 7.
The text said that they would not be returning to the flat. The phone was then disconnected from the network and hasn’t been active since.
The following day, the pair’s personal belongings were found in the flat and the landlady went to the police with her concerns.
The sisters, who were originally from Hungary, moved to Scotland about 10 years ago and were saving to buy their own home.
