Berlin attack suspect reportedly shot dead in Milan

The suspect, Anis Amri, was reportedly shot dead in a shootout in Milan.

Anis Amri, the 24-year old suspected of the attack on the Christmas markets in Berlin which killed 12 people earlier this week, has reportedly been shot dead in Milan. A security source told Reuters that Amri had been killed in a shootout in a northern suburb of the Italian city on Friday morning; the Italian interior minister had been due to hold a press conference at 9.45am GMT. https://twitter.com/Reuters/status/812228079900884992 It is believed that the man was approached by police during a routine patrol in the Sesto San Giovanni area of Milan in the early hours of Friday morning. Reports also suggest that the fingerprints of the dead man match those of the main suspect, a Tunisian man, in the attack on the Christmas markets in Berlin on Monday. 12 people were killed and dozens more injured when a truck was driven into the Christmas markets in Berlin on Monday evening. Islamic State subsequently claimed responsibility for the attack.
