A BBC building at MediaCityUK in Salford, Greater Manchester, was evacuated this afternoon, in what been confirmed to be a false alarm.

BBC Radio 5 Live was evacuated whilst broadcasting live on air. Around 2pm the station was playing pre-recorded programming, with a message between segments apologising for not being able to bring the scheduled shows. As of 2.o8pm, the station returned to normal, confirming that a fire alarm had gone off and the building evacuated, but there was no incident.
