A fundraiser to bring home the body of a Brit who was killed on a stag do in Las Vegas has raised almost £40,000.
Rugby league player Chris Moran was killed on June 9 when he was struck by a lorry while attempting to cross a road.
The 32-year-old from Wakefield, West Yorkshire, who played for amateur side Westgate Common, died at the scene despite attempts to save him.
He had been chatting to his girlfriend, Georgia Cooke, just minutes before the tragic incident.
Speaking to the Mirror, she said: “We’d been speaking up until 10 minutes before – he was saying how amazing Vegas was and that he wanted to bring me there.
“He was having the best time and we were so excited for our future together. We had just secured a mortgage for our first home and had plans to get married and have kids.”
The 25-year-old, who is as a residential worker for children with special needs, was told about her boyfriend's death by one of his friends at around 8pm.
She described Chris as "the kindest person in the world," who "brought me so much happiness."
“You couldn’t meet a more selfless, caring person. He did loads for his friends and family and adored his niece," she said.
“He played rugby every weekend, which he really enjoyed, and was very passionate about his business.”
Since his death, Georgia has set up a fundraising page for Chris to help cover the cost of bringing him back to the UK.
On the fundraising page, she wrote: “Our Chris went away on a stag do to vegas and was involved in a tragic accident and sadly passed away. We are doing everything we can to bring him home to his family.
"Any other proceeds will go to family. Thank you in advance.”
At the time of writing, the page has raised £39,315, surpassing the initial target of £35,000.
Speaking about the amount of love and support she and Chris' family and friends have received, Georgia said: “He’d be amazed. I don’t think he would be able to believe it. He was so, so loved by everyone and I hope he knew that.”
The Foreign Office has said they are supporting Chris' family.
