Legendary musician Phil Collins has revealed that he has a 24-hour live-in nurse, in a new major health update he has given fans.
Collins, 74, revealed last summer that he was in hospital, after health issues he’s had in recent years.
However, he asserted fans that there is “life in the old dog yet”, as he’s preparing to celebrate his 75th birthday at the end of the month.
In an interview for BBC Two, the In The Air Tonight hitmaker discussed his long career, from being in Genesis to going solo, as well as his many health issues.
He has battled type 2 diabetes, in addition to having complications from spinal surgery.
“Yeah, it’s an ongoing thing. You know I have a 24-hour live-in nurse to make sure I take my medication as I should do”, he said.
“I’ve had challenges with my knee, I had everything that could go wrong with me, did go wrong with me”, he added.
“I got COVID in hospital – my kidneys started to back up, you know, everything that started that could, all seemed to converge at the same time”, he revealed.
“I had five operations on my knee now – I’ve got a knee that works and I can walk, albeit with assistance, you know, crutches or whatever.”
Collins’ music career started in 1970 when he became the drummer for Genesis, and he also had a solo career in the 1980s which included hits such as Against All Odds and Two Hearts, while he remained with the band.

Kneecap absolutely obliterate Nigel Farage and Keir Starmer
“If you’d told us ten years ago that two PMs in a row would be writing about an Irish rap band in the tabloids, you’d be in a padded cell.” A few years ago, I was quietly asked to leave a bar when I started playing Guilty Conscience on the jukebox. Just last week, that […]
