Glastonbury Festival to move “towards the Midlands”

Will the Glastonbury Festival anywhere else but Glastonbury be the same?

The muddy fields and atrocious conditions are almost as iconic as the many memorable performances over the years. but it seems that the current site for the world-famous music festival is in desperate need of some r'n'r from rock'n'roll. Festival founder Michael Eavis has admitted that current site at Worthy Farm is in a bad way, and that an increasing number of 'fallow years' are needed in order for the grounds and surrounding areas to recover from the huge rigours of the event. Eavis is loathed to move the festival out of Somerset on a permanent basis, but is arranging for an alternative venue "towards the Midlands" that could share the load from 2019 onwards. The initial plan would be for the new site to host the event every few years. "I'm arranging to move the show. It would be a huge loss to Somerset if it went there forever," he said. "I've found a site about 100 miles up towards the Midlands." "We've got a wonderful product what we do and we can do it almost anywhere. I love my own farm... I might have to move it eventually. "Most people are on side now and it's a wonderful, wonderful boost for the whole of Somerset and beyond as well. I don't want to lose it for ever, no way."
