A huge achievement for one of the GOAT

Eminem has celebrated 16 of sobriety on social media, overcoming an addiction to prescription pills Vicodin, Valium and Ambien.

The 51-year-old rapper showed off a chip he was given when he reached the milestone on social media.

He has previously revealed how his addiction brought him hours away from death after an overdose.

Speaking to The Fix, Eminem said: "Had I got to the hospital about two hours later, I would have died. My organs were shutting down. My liver, kidneys, everything. They didn’t think I was gonna make it. My bottom was gonna be death."

He began on the road to sobriety after he checked himself into rehab in 2008 and started Alcoholic Anonymous's 12-step program.

He also took up a health and fitness regime to focus him as he aimed to beat the habit.

Despite being a multi-millionaire award winner, it goes to show that anybody can struggle with the pains of addiction. Getting and staying sober is an amazing achievement for anybody from any walk of life.
