Woman finds out about husband’s affair mid-flight and forces plane to make unscheduled stop

A Qatar Airways flight from Doha to Bali was forced to divert to Chennai in India on Sunday after a woman became embroiled in an argument with her husband when she found out he was having an affair. According to the Hindustan Times, the woman made the discovery after checking her husband’s smartphone, which she unlocked by using his thumb impression while he was asleep. The woman was reported to have repeatedly hit her husband after making the discovery and after attempts to calm her down were unsuccessful, the plane made an unscheduled stop in Chennai before continuing on to Doha. The woman, her husband and their young child - an Iranian family - were briefly detained in Chennai before flying to Doha via Kuala Lumpur on a Batik Air flight. Speaking about the incident, an officer of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), requesting anonymity, said: "The incident took place on Sunday morning. The Qatar Airways flight QR-962 (Doha-Bali) was diverted to Chennai after the pilot requested for it citing unruly passenger on board as the reason. "The woman and her husband along with their child were offloaded and the flight departed for Bali,” the officer added. "The family spent the day at Chennai airport and was sent to Kuala Lumpur by a Batik Air flight. No police action was taken."
