Booking a train ticket can be a real pain in backside sometimes.

You'd naturally think that it'd be cheaper to grab a train than a flight, but that isn't always the case. If you travel a lot, regularly buying train tickets can add up very quickly and leave you pretty broke. But thankfully there is a simple way to save money on your train tickets called ticket splitting. Basically, instead of buying a direct ticket from say London Euston to Birmingham New Street - which costs £170 - you can save money by booking two singles from London Euston to Coventry and from Coventry to Birmingham New Street for £153.60 altogether. It's the exact same train, just cheaper. You can get away with this on a number of journeys.
