Few things can torment kids and their parents like Where's Wally can. Often chucked a child's way to keep them occupied for a bit, people of all ages have been left frustrated by their inability to find the stripey guy amongst the chaos of the pages.
We all remember the great sense of achievement when we did eventually find him though. The burst of adrenaline as we spotted his hat and glasses, giving us confirmation that our eyes do work and that the book was not just an elaborate prank.
Except one man wishes it was this way.
A clip has gone viral online of a devious man who buys Where's Wally books in the US - where for some reason Wally is renamed as Waldo - only to remove Wally from the pages and return the book to the shelf for some poor unsuspecting victim to drive themselves crazy over.
YouTuber Blake Messick shared his elaborate prank on TikTok, with a clip showing him walking into a book shop to purchase The Great Waldo Search.
He leaves the shop with his purchase, before returning home and opening Photoshop on his computer.
He then painstakingly removes Waldo/Waldo from every double-page spread in the book, prints off the altered image and pastes it into the book.
And then, he does what we all feared he would, and returns to the shop to place the book right back where it was when he bought it.
Messick captioned the post "my idea of a perfect crime? I'll show you' and has so far been viewed 5.2 million times.
Unsurprisingly, many were left fuming at his evilness, with one person labelling it the "most villainous act I've ever witnessed," before adding that they were "equal parts impressed and horrified."
Another suggested the man should be "arrested" for his crimes against Wally, whilst someone else said the crime would make a good "Joker origin story."
