Jennifer Lawrence slams the overreaction and ridiculous controversy over her revealing dress

The actress isn't impressed by the easily offended.

With her new film Red Sparrow set to be released, Jennifer Lawrence is in London to perform her various PR duties. On Tuesday afternoon, the Oscar-winning actress featured in a photocall alongside her co-stars; Joel Edgerton, Jeremy Irons, Matthias Schoenaerts and director Francis Lawrence. As you can see, the men wrapped up by wearing warm clothing and Lawrence decided to wear a Versace dress. "Wow. I don't really know where to get started on this 'Jennifer Lawrence wearing a revealing dress in the cold' controversy. This is not only utterly ridiculous, I am extremely offended. That Versace dress was fabulous, you think I'm going to cover that gorgeous dress up with a coat and a scarf? I was outside for 5 minutes. I would have stood in the snow for that dress because I love fashion and that was my choice," she said. Lawrence continues to succinctly explain why she's fed up with people being offended. She says: "This is sexist, this is ridiculous, this is not feminism. Overreacting about everything someone says or does, creating controversy over silly innocuous things such as what I choose to wear or not wear, is not moving us forward. It's creating silly distractions from real issues. Get a grip people. Everything you see me wear is my choice. And if I want to be cold THATS MY CHOICE TOO!" Red Sparrow is released on March 1st and in the film, Lawernce plays a ballerina that's named Dominika Egorova. After being recruited to 'Sparrow School', a Russian intelligence service, she's forced to use her body as a weapon. But her first mission, targeting a CIA agent, threatens to unravel the security of both nations. Here's her statement in full.
