According to a new study, it all depends on your age on how long you last in bed, as a bloke.
Lasting longer doesn’t always seem to be better, but you might get disappointed with yourself if a quickie isn’t what you were going for.
For some men, the orgasm comes too soon, but how long it takes you can actually depend on a number of factors.
On the other hand, women orgasm less frequently than men, according to study (65% of the time, as opposed to 95% in men).
But what can be a deciding factor in how long it takes for a man to orgasm?
The amount of alcohol consumed, how much time passed since the last time they had sex, and age of course.
A study from LoveHoney has come up with the average time you can expect from men in different age groups, and you can see them below:
Men aged between 18-24, 16.14 minutes
Sex will most likely be a fairly new and exciting experience for you if you belong to this age group.
You might lose control faster as the average is just 16.14 minutes.
But don’t worry if you last around that, as around five percent last just one or two minutes, and a further 13 percent last between three and five minutes. Five percent, it seems, can last for over an hour, if they are to be trusted in their claims.
Men aged between 25-34, 18.29 minutes
This is the time when you’re more experienced, which probably has to do with why you last longer. Not by much, however.
The average time for this age group is 18.29 minutes.
Men aged between 35-44, 17.40 minutes
And at this age you might want to rush things as perhaps you don’t have that much time alone with your partner, as you might have kids already.
Men last 17.40 minutes on average in bed in this age group.
Men aged between 45-54, 14.14 minutes
An even quicker time on average than the 18-24 age group. In this age men reported an average time of 14.14 minutes.
This is probably because you’re considered middle-aged and you’ve lost that exuberance for steamy moments that you once had.
Men aged between 55-64, 11.30 minutes
It seems that things are most likely not going to last as long as 15 minutes here, as in this age group men reported an average time of 11.30 minutes to reach orgasm.
Men aged 65+, 8.15 minutes
The shortest time yet, but this is an age group where many will hope they still have the energy and desire for intercourse. But that’s no reason for you not to enjoy yourselves.
“Research shows that session length tends to peak in the late 20s to early 30s and gradually shortens as men get older," Lovehoney’s sexual health expert and sexual health nurse Sarah Mulindwa told Metro.
“In your 20s, excitement and novelty are high, which can lead to quicker climaxes, but recovery is fast, and stamina is generally good. At this stage, it’s all about pacing – using edging, breathwork, or condoms strategically can help build control”.
“However, what matters most at any age is communication, technique, and pleasure – not the stopwatch”, she concludes.
‘People called us stupid over 40-year mortgage – now we plan to retire in our 50s’
“There were quite a lot of offensive comments telling me I was ‘stupid’ or ‘why don’t you understand this” A young couple who took out a 40-year term mortgage still plan to retire in their fifties. Bryony Clarke, 27, purchased her three-bed semi-detached house in December 2023 for £247,500 with partner Charlie, 27. They put […]
