Nintendo is already sending ‘out of stock’ signs to shops ahead of Switch 2 launch

Nintendo is apparently providing retailers with 'out of stock' posters ahead of the Switch 2 release.

Despite the much-anticipated console having a release date of 5 June, it seems Nintendo has begun supplying retailers with out of stock signs for when it inevitably runs out.

Switch 2 pre-orders have consistently been selling out in the UK with retailers like Amazon and Currys listing the console as "currently unavailable".

It's not yet known if any consoles will even be available in-stores on 5 June, but the gaming brand is readying retailers with the out of stock posters.

An image of one such sign was shared to the Nintendo Switch 2 subreddit by Alternative_Basket19. They don’t say which store they spotted this in, but users have suggested it's a US retailer like Target or Best Buy.

According to Alternatve_Basket19, the sign can be also flipped around to read that the Switch 2 is 'back in stock', which gives some hope that there might be stock available.

Fellow Redditors agree that the signage is warranted with Welsh_Redneck calling it "excellent advertising once stock does run out".

Others joked that they want the sign for themselves, with one writing: "I would frame one of these and put it on my wall if I had one. It just seems like a funny thing to have, and not even as a collectable."

Smyths has said it will have a limited amount of Switch 2 stock in its stores during its midnight launch, so it might be worth checking out your local Smyths store, and hope that you're not met with an 'out of stock' sign.

While John Lewis is another retailer that says the console will be in stock on 5 June as it is launched across the UK. Shoppers will be able to buy the console online and in-store from the launch date, according to the website.
