Apparently they're both set to arrive before the end of 2023.

Xbox versus PlayStation is just this generation's version of Sega versus Nintendo, but a currently highly-contested court battle has brought this rivalry to previously unseen levels.

There is currently a trial between Microsoft and the Federal Trade Commission, all connected to Microsoft's attempted purchase of video game company Activision Blizzard for a hefty $69 billion.

Tech conglomerates buying game developers is nothing new, but this particular company could give Microsoft and Xbox the exclusive rights to some of the biggest video game franchises in history, including Call Of Duty, which could be seen as being a monopolistic manoeuvre.

While all of that is going on, Microsoft also released a court document, detailing the future of Sony and PlayStation's releases puts them far from being in a monopoly position.

We had previously reported on these new PlayStation consoles being in the works, but the new handheld console - reportedly under the working title Project Q - also arriving so soon is news to us.

And Microsoft releasing this information, especially if it turns out to be accurate, is sure to disrupt Sony's plans for announcement and release dates. Either way, we'll be updating our 2023 Christmas lists accordingly.
