And people are (jokingly) blaming a recent movie for its closure
Have you ever been to a Michelin restaurant?
What about a two-star Michelin restaurant? Less likely, as there are only 18 in the UK.
What about a three-star Michelin restaurant? Much less likely, as there are only 142 of them on the planet, and just eight of them are in the UK.
What about the very best restaurant in the entire world? Well, you'd better try to get a booking soon, because it is closing down.
As reported by the New York Times, the restaurant Noma, which can be found in Copenhagen, Denmark, will be closing its doors in 2024.
The report states: "The decision comes as Noma and many other elite restaurants are facing scrutiny of their treatment of the workers, many of them paid poorly or not at all, who produce and serve these exquisite dishes.
"The style of fine dining that Noma helped create and promote around the globe - wildly innovative, labor-intensive and vastly expensive - may be undergoing a sustainability crisis."
Once news of the closure spread, people quickly took aim at a recently released movie for the news...
Yep, darkly comic thriller The Menu, starring Ralph Fiennes and Anya Taylor-Joy, and from the director of many of the best episodes of Succession, also involves a high-end restaurant potentially looking to close... but in a very different way.
Of the restaurant's closure, Noma chef and founder René Redzepi said the following: "We have to completely rethink the industry. This is simply too hard. It’s unsustainable. Financially and emotionally, as an employer and as a human being, it just doesn’t work."

As a restaurant, it won World's Best Restaurant in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014, and in 2021, it took the top spot in the first ever World's 50 Best Restaurants Awards.
Instead, the restaurant will now become a "full-time food laboratory", but for now, reservations still appear to be available for the restaurant itself. According to Noma's website, a dinner for one with wine pairing will set you back around €750. Just FYI.
Meanwhile, The Menu has just been added to Disney+, and you should check it out because it is pretty great.
