The battle over the best Christmas sandwich tends to be a fiercely contested one in Blighty - and for good reason.
Every year, the likes of Pret, M&S, and Greggs lead the charge, each determined to outdo the others in the nation’s most mouthwatering festive face-off.
Pret’s Christmas Lunch sandwich is practically a seasonal institution, while M&S ups the ante with premium ingredients and indulgent twists that ooze luxury.
But this year a new contender has arrived on the scene that deserves some attention.
Subway's 'Ultimate Festive Sub' has been rolled out for 2025, featuring rotisserie style chicken, bacon, sage and onion stuffing, American – style cheese and rich cranberry sauce - and it looks absolutely banging.
The Ultimate Festive Sub comes with all the fillings and trimmings tucked into Subway's all-new festive Stuffing Bread – baked fresh in-store daily using fan-favourite Italian white bread topped with a new sage and onion stuffing, to give a full flavour twist on a festive classic. Available as a 6-inch or Footlong – it’s the ultimate festive sandwich and a Sub that sleighs!
The new festive menu also sees a new addition to Subway’s Footlong Sidekicks line up, with the launch of the Turkey & Stuffing Footlong Dipper – a tortilla wrap filled with turkey, stuffing and delicious melted cheesy goodness. Paired with the new rich cranberry sauce, or any signature dip of your choice, it’s perfect for seasonal snacking.
Not to be outdone, Greggs brings its signature comfort-food flair to the table, offering hearty, no-nonsense takes that win over the masses. And when you pair it with a Festive Bake - hands down the best culinary invention to have ever graced these shores - it's hard to walk past the high street bakery without popping your head in.

For fans of Subway’s new jacket potato offering; Spudway, there’s even more to savour this season as the Ultimate Festive Sub is also available as a Spud. Combining succulent rotisserie chicken, bacon, sage & onion stuffing, cheese and rich cranberry sauce with the comfort of a perfectly baked jacket potato, it’s the ultimate winter indulgence.
Cathy Goodwin, Interim Director of Culinary & Innovation Subway EMEA, said: “We’re excited to unveil this year’s festive menu. Whether you're a fan of classic flavours or seeking something new and exciting, our festive menu offers the ultimate taste of Christmas. From the Ultimate Festive sandwich (or spud!) to our signature freshly baked cookies, we hope our Subway fans enjoy these limited-edition offerings as much as we enjoyed creating them.”
