An Australian cafe worker has shared images showing how a raw steak left in a car cooked in just hours as the country experiences an extreme heat wave. Mildura Dockside Café posted before and after images of the steak on their Facebook page last night. The pub employee left the porterhouse steak in a car parked in the shade at 11am yesterday and by 4pm the steak was cooked to well-done. The café used the social media post to warn of the dangers of leaving individuals and animals in cars – even if parked out of the sun. "With this heat wave please remember never to leave children, elderly or animals in the car," the post wrote. The country is currently experiencing a severe heat wave with a code red issued in South Australia. Port Augusta in the south reached a scorching high of 48.9 C on Tuesday. The Bureau warned of serious fire danger for Northern Victoria in the coming days. Many users wondered if the employee ate the steak in the comments. Mildura Dockside Café responded the steak was not eaten, with users considering it a waste of good meat. Other users remained sceptical a steak can cook to well-done in the shade — igniting a fierce debate in the comments. "A car left IN THE SUN will get up to about 60 to 70 degrees C inside. In the shade? Nope. Not going to get well don'," the commenter wrote. "It’s a good message, but don’t take people for fools." In response to arguments, Mildura Dockside Café reminded their Facebook fans of the real reason why they shared the pictures: "I wanted to remind people how dangerous this heat can be and that as a community we should be looking out for one another n keeping each other safe."
