McDonald’s runs out of milkshakes across all its UK restaurants

The Brexit bandit has struck again, this time with fast-food service Mcdonalds, which cannot serve milkshakes in any of its 1,300 restaurants. Milkshakes are not on the Maccies menu due to the supply chain issues that have also affected KFC, Subway, Nando's, and supermarkets, to name a few. Due to the combination of Brexit and the pandemic, supply chains have been disrupted. https://twitter.com/Archangel_One/status/1430086577439526942 A McDonald’s spokesperson told The Independent staff are "working hard to return these items to the menu as soon as possible. "Like most retailers, we are currently experiencing some supply chain issues, impacting the availability of a small number of products. Bottled drinks and milkshakes are temporarily unavailable in restaurants across England, Scotland and Wales. "We apologise for any inconvenience, and thank our customers for their continued patience." Similarly, high-street favourite Nando's also reported issues with their supply chain. A Nando's spokeswoman said on Wednesday: "The UK food industry has been experiencing disruption across its supply chain in recent weeks due to staff shortages and a number of our restaurants have been impacted. https://twitter.com/jakewall97/status/1428685386587455494 "However, since Monday, a team of our brilliant Nandocas have been supporting our key suppliers onsite - working in partnership to help get things moving again, and this has already had a positive impact on affected restaurants. "From this Saturday, as a result of the hard work behind the scenes, it is our intention that all of our restaurants will be open again, and all our customers can enjoy their favourite peri-peri chicken."

Some branches of Co-op stores were also forced to ration people to one bottle of milk each due to a shortfall.

A Co-op spokesperson said: "We are experiencing sporadic disruption from the industry-wide shortage of HGV drivers and an increase in colleagues self-isolating on a precautionary basis."
