Brits will bid goodbye to the coldest summer since 2015 as the autumn winds pick up and the cold nights draw in.
It's been a pretty terrible season all told, with the mean daily temperatures barely rising above 14C for the lion's share of the country.
August was the wettest month of the summer, with some places in Scotland experiencing double their average summer rainfall during the month and Storm Lilian bringing strong winds and heavy rain at the end.
And June and July were hardly a walk along the Copacabana.
But even if we did get robbed of a decent summer, autumn has got off to a good start with the prospect of £2 pints at a major pub chain which boasts more than 700 venues across the UK, ensuring most people are within reaching distance of cheap suds.
For two weeks only, Greene King will be partying like it's 1999 by offering select pints for £2, including Amstel, Carlsberg, Carling, Fosters and Tennent’s.
Anyone visiting a participating pub between 4th and 18th September can take advantage of the offer, which will offer light relief for those used to forking out in excess of £5 a pint in most places.
Olivia Robertson, head of marketing for Greene King pubs, said: “While we can’t guarantee that the Great British weather will get any better, we can guarantee good times ahead with our £2 Pint offer to toast the season and give reason for friends and family to gather socially before the end of summer at any one of our 700+ pubs nationwide.
"High street shops enjoy an end of summer sale – so why not your favourite local Greene King pub too. As always, our Greene King staff will be happy to serve all of our guests responsibly.”
The offer is available in 708 pubs nationwide, between 4th – 18th September, the choice of beverage is based on individual pubs - visit your local pub, with photo ID, to find out which product is included in the offer.

The product may have to be renamed Spare a thought for Paddington Bear who may have to be having his sandwiches with ‘citrus marmalade’ in the near future.
