He got to such a size that he experienced negative comments on criticism from friends and family. The Ashford native says:
“I didn’t mind at first as they weren’t close friends, but it made me feel like I couldn’t have a lot of friends because I was being judged by them.”
“At the time my family situation wasn’t any better.”
As well as generally feeling ‘embarrassed’, Cagnant’s woes were further compounded as he got out of breath easily and found trips to the theme park difficult.
“I felt isolated and everything combined pushed me into a lonelier state. I wasn’t going out at all. I had no job and no real social life.”
Then, Cagnant got a job as a lorry driver. What initially began as a downward spiral set the wheels in motion for a new, healthier lifestyle.
“When I started work as a lorry driver my knees were hurting a lot and I decided to see a doctor. I found out that just from being active I had already started to lose some weight and I decided to see a nutritionist.”
“I think it was the realisation of how unhappy and down I was before that really kickstarted me into wanting to carry on losing weight.”
Working and eating a healthier diet proved pivotal. Cagnant joined a gym to further his fat loss pursuits, his shrinking waistline providing confidence and a new lease of life.
“I mainly wanted to do it for myself. I learnt from when my family tried to push me before, you have to want to make the change yourself, especially if you want to achieve big results.”
Read more from JOE's series“My family and friends were very supportive in the end - it’s kind of a snowball effect, but at the beginning everything starts from the spark deep inside yourself.”
After first joining the gym Cagnant was uncertain how to programme his diet and training, but then turned to LDN Muscle’s online training guides.
“I found LDN Muscle through social media and was particularly attracted to their guides as they were the only ones out there that catered for people with a ‘normal life’.
“It was really easy to follow the LDN Muscle Cutting guide without having to compromise on other areas of my life. I didn’t have to spend two hours a day at the gym five times a week or cut out all carbs and fat.”
“If I wanted to go out on a Saturday night and have a burger and a drink with friends then I could, and there were no ‘evil foods’ I had to cut out.”
Cagnant's workouts did not compromise his social life, either - training just three days a week for an hour each time. By using the cutting guide's nutritional guidelines to consider how much he was putting into his body, the results have been clear to see for the lorry driver.
“My diet now is high in protein, but completely normal and sustainable.”
“I’m currently using the LDN Muscle Bulking Bible and weigh 16stone 8lbs, but lost over 13 stone to reach 14st 9lbs at my leanest.”
Finding inspiration from within, Cagnant is now saving money as he hopes to join LDN Muscle’s training academy and become a qualified personal trainer.
