You have one week to watch these great films before they leave Netflix

However, maybe this list might change your mind. Netflix are doing their monthly movie purge and unsurprisingly there are some really excellent flicks on there. So if you have a free evening between now and the end of the month, jump on these before they leave the streamer.

The Danish Girl (2015)

This biographical romantic drama stars Eddie Redmayne as one of the first known recipients of gender-affirming surgery. His performance garnered a lot of praise at the time, receiving an Oscar nomination for Best Actor. His co-star Alicia Vikander won Best Supporting Actress for her performance.

Donnie Brasco (1997)

Loosely based on a true story, Johnny Depp stars as an FBI undercover agent who infiltrates a crime family in 70's New York, where he befriends a hitman played by Al Pacino.

Erin Brockovich (2000)

Legal drama based on the true story of a paralegal, played by Julia Roberts, who went up against a giant energy company over their involvement in a massive wastewater incident.

The Fighter (2010)

Christian Bale is on top form with one of his best ever performances in this drama about two half brothers, one a former boxer and the other a current professional trying to get out from under his sibling's shadow.

Layer Cake (2004)

Fun crime flick about the London criminal underworld and a man who wants to leave it all behind. There's a brilliant ensemble cast here and it's said that Daniel Craig's excellent performance was the precursor to his Bond casting.

Matilda (1996)

Classic fantasy flick based on the beloved Roald Dahl book, starring Mara Wilson as the titular telekinetic child prodigy who battles against her neglectful parents and terrifying headmistress.

Superbad (2007)

One of the best coming-of-age comedies of the last few decades which birthed a generation of talent including Jonah Hill, Michael Cera and Emma Stone.

The hilarious flick centres on a group of friends who are all trying to lose their virginity before they graduate high school.

True Grit (2010)

Nominated for ten Academy Awards, this Western stars Hailee Steinfeld as a young teenage girl who hires an alcoholic lawman (played by Jeff Bridges) to track down the outlaw who killed her father.

The Underworld series

Not one, not two, not three but FOUR Underworld flicks are being pulled off the streamer in the next week. If you're a fan of the action horror series, which sees werewolves go up against vampires, you'll have to make it your mission to get one final viewing in before they head off Netflix.

For some reason, Underworld: Blood Wars, the fifth entry in the series is nowhere to be found on Netflix. So, even if you manage to get all four in this week, it will still be incomplete viewing. What a cruel world we live in.
