Women’s Aid makes desperate plea to I’m A Celebrity bosses

The charity did not hold back

Women's Aid has posted a statement about I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! after Seann Walsh opened up about cheating on his ex-girlfriend on the reality show, calling it the "worst moment of my life". In a Tweet on Friday, the charity asked ITV to "consider in their edit not platforming alleged abusers minimising their actions on screen". The comedian's life exploded onto the front pages after he was photographed kissing Strictly Coming Dancing partner Katya Jones in 2018 while she was married to Neil Jones and he was in a relationship with now ex-girlfriend Rebecca Humphries. https://twitter.com/womensaid/status/1591085254563213313 Following media reports surrounding the kiss, Rebecca released a lengthily statement in which she said Seann called her "psycho" and "nuts" for questioning his friendship with Katya, who he kissed on the actresses birthday. The couple later broke up. While Katya's husband initially stood by her, they split in August 2019. Speaking about the kiss on Thursday night's episode of I'm A Celeb, Seann called it the "worst moment of his life". https://twitter.com/demitaadele/status/1590109517970538496 While speaking to campmate Sue Cleaver, Seann explained: "Me and my dance partner, who was married, I was in a relationship, we were photographed kissing when we were on Strictly Come Dancing… that was the front page of every newspaper." Sue asked: "Why did that crucify you? Why did that have such an impact?" Seann said: "To be totally honest with you, my poor ex, my girlfriend at the time, posted a statement. My girlfriend [at the time] posted a statement and that was the end of me." I sat next to will.i.am and Samuel L. Jackson and apologised. "That will forever be the weirdest moment of my life and I have to say probably the worst moment of my life." Women's Aid tweeted: "Imagine experiencing gaslighting by a partner, undergoing therapy, and then watching that person garner sympathy on national TV? "We ask @ITV @imacelebrity to consider in their edit not platforming alleged abusers minimising their actions on screen. Solidarity with survivors." Speaking about the exchange in the Bush Telegraph, Sue expressed sympathy for Seann and said he was "brave" to put himself back into the spotlight with I'm A Celebrity. "He's a lovely lad. He's a sensitive soul, very sensitive soul. He's been through the ringer the last three years. I think he's really brave and I'm glad he's here," she said. When it was Seann's turn in the Bush Telegraph he said he just wanted to "move on" and was grateful there are people on the show "that will listen and are so lovely and wonderful". Related links:
