Wife of frontman of iconic band explains why he attacked guitarist on stage mid-song

Move over Oasis, there's a new dysfunctional band in town

However, while Oasis have been busy making up with each other, another iconic band have been busy lamping each other on stage, mid-concert.

Although, this could be a great precursor for what we could expect when the Gallaghers finally take to the stage together next year.

The incident happened last night and arose during a reunion gig for iconic American rock band Jane's Addiction which saw front man Perry Farrell punch guitarist Dave Navarro during the concert.

This caused the gig to descend into chaos with bassist Eric Avery getting involved and ultimately leading to the premature end to the concert, and maybe even the band.

Now Farrell's wife has spoken out about the incident and explained exactly why he attacked Navarro on stage.

Taking to Instagram, Etty Lau Farrell gave what she called a first person account narrative of the on-stage scrap - you can watch it below.

She wrote: Clearly there had been a lot of tension and animosity between the members.. the magic that made the band so dynamic. Well, the dynamite was lit."

"Perry’s frustration had been mounting, night after night, he felt that the stage volume had been extremely loud and his voice was being drowned out by the band.

"Perry had been suffering from tinnitus and a sore throat every night. But when the audience in the first row, started complaining up to Perry cussing at him that the band was planning too loud and that they couldn’t hear him, Perry lost it.

She also claimed that "the band started the song Ocean before Perry was ready and did the count off," and that "the stage volume was so loud" that "he was screaming just be to be heard."

Etty posted a video of the fight along with her explanation as it can be clearly seen Farrell walks up to Navarro and shoves him with the guitarist attempting to hold back the front man who persists.

Despite Navarro's efforts, Farrell still throws a punch, at which point the music stops and crew members and the rest of the band come over to help, well most of them.

Farrell's wife had some very unsavoury things to say about bassist Eric Avery.

She wrote: "Who won the fight? Why, Eric Avery of course. While Dave was keeping Perry at arm’s length to de-escalate the situation. Dan rushed over to de-escalate as well by holding Perry back.

"Dave walked away to take his guitar off. Eric walked up to Perry, upstage, in the dark, behind Dan, put Perry in a headlock and punched him in the stomach three times.

"Kevin, crewmember with a long hair with long hair, pulled Eric away. Then Eric, nonchalant, walked off to the front of the stage to apologize to the audience for the show ending early.

"He either didn’t understand what de-escalation meant or took advantage of the situation and got in a few cheap shots on Perry."

Etty would go on to reveal that her husband was a "crazed beast for the next half hour" but then he "cried and cried" after the fight.

Following on from the chaos on show, and despite Etty's efforts to make an understanding of the situation, there appeared to be very little sympathy for Perry Farrell from fans in the comment section of the post.

One person wrote: Sorry.. this just doesn’t add up. The LA show was great and the sound was fine.

Meanwhile another person put: "This post is deranged gaslighting. Perry chose violence, he had it coming from anyone who cared to give it to him. You have the audacity to blame the sound guy and make Eric the bad guy?"

While finally one commenter said: "Dave is a class act. The fact he didn’t react to Perry shows he probably sympathizes with him for some reason that is not volume related. This post is like saying everything is fine while the whole house is on fire."

It is unsure where the band will go from here.

However, for music fans in the UK, people will just be hoping that this is no foreshadowing for what could happen when a certain two brothers from Manchester get up on stage together in 2025 for the first time for 15 years - we can only hope.
