Watching Father Ted for the very first time

Go on, go on, go on, go on, go on

Not my words, the words of none other than Mrs. Doyle - the tea-loving housekeeper from the classic ecclesiastical Irish/British comedy show Father Ted. Written by Arthur Matthews and Graham Linehan, Father Ted focuses on the life of its titular character, Father Ted Crilly, a parish priest on the outpost of Craggy Island. Ted shares a house with the aforementioned Mrs. Doyle and two other priests, Father Dougal Maguire and Father Jack Hackett. While Ted is the self-styled brains of the operation, Dougal is a well-meaning idiot  and Jack a lecherous and aggressive alcoholic. Now, the adventures of three priests and their housekeeper does not sound like a recipe for critical and commercial success, but that's exactly what it was, and once you watch it's easy to see why.
