The terrible event in London were condemned by leaders across the world, and thought and prayer for the victims flooded in from every corner of the globe.
However, when any horrific attacks like this happen, others use it to pipe on about their own agendas. We sadly also got the usual spew of uninformed opinions, many from people who had never been anywhere near the UK but were suddenly experts.
Expat John Oliver has become one of the sharpest and most notable figures in American satire - but when it came to the latest episode of his show Last Week Tonight, he provided a much needs British voice to cut through all the American fear-mongering.

OK, here’s the thing: For the record, in no way is Britain ‘under siege’. Is it upset? Yes. Is it pissed off? Oh, you fucking bet it’s pissed off. But to say it’s ‘under siege’ and that its people are ‘reeling’ is to imply that it’s somehow weak enough to be brought to its knees by three monumental assholes. And that, as an idea, is insulting.
He also made reference to the #ThingsThatLeaveBritainReeling hashtag, and viral image of the Londoner who refused to leave his pint behind while running from the attacks.
