War for the Planet of the Apes has received the highest praise possible

With Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Matt Reeves took an incredibly bold risk. After audiences were captivated by Caesar's daring escape from the medical laboratory/prison in Rise of the Planet of the Apes, we all assumed that the next adventure would jump straight into the action. Instead, we got an incredibly clever look at how certain animals- whether that be man or simian - are constantly looking to disrupt the peace. Despite the best intentions of Caesar, Kuba's deceit and treachery has put man and ape on a road that has one inevitable conclusion, war. Without a hint of hyperbole, the new Planet of the Apes trilogy (Rise, Dawn and War) could be that rarest of things, a perfect trilogy. The first trailer that we saw for War for the Planet of the Apes got us pumped, but if you loved the first two films then brace yourself because according to Entertainment Weekly, the new film is "the best entry in the series." Given how good the first two films are, that's surely the highest praise possible. In fact, this positive word of mouth has been reciprocated by plenty of other websites. The Guardian said that that it's "a bold, sweeping adventure told with confidence and intensity" while Screen Daily added that Matt Reeves' film is a "smart and noble conclusion to the Apes trilogy." In War for the Planet of the Apes, the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind.
