The Jamie Vardy movie has recruited some serious writing talent

The Jamie Vardy biopic is looking every bit as ambitious as the famous Foxes team it will document.

The screenwriters from Oscar-nominated The Fighter have been brought in to pen a movie that will follow Vardy from his humble non-league beginnings to Leicester's against all (5000/1) odds Premier League triumph. We fully expect a certain party to have its own scene, too. Paul Tamasy and Eric Johnson are teaming up with Goal: The Dream Begins scribe Adrian Butchart and The King's Speech producers Simon Egan and Gareth Ellis-Unwin for the as-yet-untitled film, which has reportedly already cast Vinnie Jones to play former Leicester manager Nigel Pearson. Speaking to Deadline, Egan said: “Gareth and I are thrilled to be able to welcome Paul and Eric to the team. "They were nominated by the Academy for The Fighter in same year that The King’s Speech was in contention and we saw and heard firsthand how highly respected and talented they both are. "We very much wanted to find a way we might work together. Brilliant writers who bring another layer of top-tier talent to this project.” Tamasy, who was born in England and plays regular soccer (sorry) in Los Angeles, said of the project: "the story represents everything we love in a movie." Johnson, who alongside Tamasy also wrote Patriots Day, the upcoming film about the Boston Marathon bombings, added: "This is more than a sports film, it’s a once-in- a-lifetime story about the fulfilment of impossible dreams and the strength of the human spirit. It’s also a hell of a lot of fun. I’m extremely excited and proud to be a part of it." We still don't know if the biopic will cover England's Euro 2016 campaign. Maybe they'll hide it somewhere deep within the DVD extras. Filming is scheduled to begin later this year.
