One of the best horror film franchises is getting a TV spin-off very soon

The two movies are currently streaming on Netflix so now is the time to catch up.

The original Creep film was released in 2014 and starred co-writer and director Patrick Brice as a cash-strapped filmmaker who accepts an assignment to travel to a remote cabin and record an eccentric client (co-writer Mark Duplass).

The client says he is dying and wants to make a movie for his unborn child. His requests, however, become more bizarre as the day goes along.

The found footage horror holds a 91% Rotten Tomatoes score, with critics praising it for its simple but effective premise and its sinister if darkly funny central performance by Duplass.

Brice and Duplass returned for a sequel three years later titled Creep 2, which maintained the tension of the original while amping up its comedic elements.

The found-footage follow-up was also acclaimed - earning a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes - and now seven years later, we're getting a six-episode spin-off series with Duplass reprising his lead role and Brice directing the entire show.

The plot synopsis is available to read below, though beware it includes a major spoiler for the first Creep film:

"The Creep Tapes continues to unravel the mind of a secluded serial killer who lures videographers into his world with the promise of a paid job documenting his life. Unfortunately, as the tape rolls, the killer’s questionable intentions surface with his increasingly odd behavior and the victims will learn they may have made a deadly mistake."

The Creep Tapes will debut with a two-episode premiere on the horror streaming service Shudder on Friday, November 15.

This will be followed by new episodes releasing weekly on Fridays.
