Supernatural and Dark Blue actress Nicki Aycox passes away aged 47

'She was definitely a fighter and everyone who knew her loved her'

Actress Nicki Aycox - best known for roles as Meg Masters on The CW's Supernatural and Jaimie Allen on TNT's Dark Blue - has died aged 47 following a battle with cancer. The star's sister-in-law, Susan Raab Ceklosky, confirmed her death in a Facebook post on Thursday. Along with pictures of Nicki and her husband Matt Raab, she wrote: "My beautiful, smart, fierce, incredibly talented, and loving sister-in-law, Nicki Aycox Raab, passed away yesterday with my brother, Matt Raab, by her side. "Nicki and Matt had a wonderful life together in California. She was definitely a fighter and everyone who knew her loved her." Nicki was diagnosed with cancer in 2020, having first thought she had contacted covid, and underwent chemotherapy and stem cell transplants. She documented her battle on her vegan lifestyle website Cashews and Olives and provided updates on her health on the site's Instagram page. https://www.instagram.com/p/Cbia6ufAFqs/?hl=en In her last Instagram post, on March 25, she mustered up the energy to sing from her hospital bed after a chemo session. Supernatural creator Eric Kripke paid tribute to the actress with a heartfelt social media post on Sunday. Kripke shared a gif of Nicki's Meg Masters blowing out a candle, along with a tribute to her. "Gutted to hear the great #NickiAycox, our first #MegMasters, passed away. "Too young. She was a delight & delivered lines like honey & venom. I marvel at how she made a simple word like 'lackluster' legendary," he wrote. Nicki was born in Hennessey, Oklahoma and spent her childhood performing in pageants and playing the piano before studying at the University of Oklahoma. She then moved to LA to focus on her acting career and landed guest-starring roles in Weird Science, LA Heat, 3rd Rock From the Sun, USA High and Boy Meets World in the late 1990s. She had a seven-episode arc as Lily Gallagher in Providence along with guest-starring roles in The X-Files, Ally McBeal and Dark Angel. Nicki also features in movies Crime + Punishment in Suburbia, Rave McBeth and Jeepers Creepers 2. She had extended arcs in Ed, LAX and Over There before landing her beloved role as Meg Masters in Supernatural. She appeared as the demonic character in four episodes of Season 4 and one episode of Season 5. Nicki also recurred on Cold Case and starred as Jaimie Allen in the TNT crime drama series Dark Blue.
