Sophie Turner on why Sansa and Jon’s relationship is so tense in Game of Thrones

Like a reminder not to touch anyone with greyscale, here's the obligatory spoiler alert for anyone that's not up to speed on all things Game of Thrones. Season 7 has only just begun, but we're already seeing patterns emerge as the battle-lines and allegiances for The Great War are starting to form. In The North, Jon Snow's reign is facing its ultimate test as he does his very best to rally every single man, woman and child to fight against the Night King's armies. In order to survive against the army of the undead, he's going to need Daenerys' bountiful supply of dragon glass. In doing so, a meeting between the King in the North and the Mother of Dragons is inevitable, but like most of his decisions, Sansa Stark is questioning Jon's wisdom. Granted, Sansa's intervention during the Battle of the Bastards proved to be vital and she does have reason to be worried about Jon's trip to Dragonstone - the execution of Rickard and Brandon Stark by the Mad King was one of the reasons that led to Robert's Rebellion - but there's a feeling that the tension between Jon and Sansa is growing . This news is bound to make Littlefinger happy. At the end of last season, Jon Snow said "we need to trust each other now, we have so many enemies," but since reclaiming Winterfell, their relationship has been frayed and things are bound to get interesting as the legitimate daughter of Ned and Catelyn Stark rules in Jon's absence. From Sansa's perspective, Jon needs to be smarter than Ned and Robb because they were clueless when it came to playing the game of thrones, but Sophie Turner has provided her own reasons why the siblings don't seem to get along. In an interview with EW, she said: “I think the sibling rivalry stems from childhood. The reality is Jon is the military man, and the sexism exists where he believes that [a man should be in charge]. And in reality, Sansa is a really wonderful politician, and he doesn’t recognize it enough to appreciate it. It’s difficult because military-wise, she doesn’t know anything. And she’s kind of butting in on that respect. And he, on the other end, is trying to be more of a politician, and he doesn’t know as much as she does. If they could just learn to collaborate.” We can't wait for the next episode.
