A Scooby-Doo live-action series is in development, with Netflix close to agreeing a deal for the project, according to reports.
Deadline says Scooby-Doo! The Live-Action Series is nearing a deal at the streaming giant with a script-to-series commitment.
This would mean that if the script is well-received, it would trigger a a straight-to-series order.
Netflix and Warner Bros. Television have declined to comment about the deal.
The series will be written by Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenborg, but plot and cast details are being kept under wraps.
The world was first introduced to Fred, Shaggy, Velma, Daphne and Scooby-Doo in 1969 when the animated series Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! was aired.
Since then, Scooby-Doo has become one of the most iconic cartoons in the world, spawning a number of series, films, and reboots.
The project would be the first live-action adaptation of the Mystery Gang since Warner Bros. Pictures relaunched the beloved franchise with the release of the 2002 film, Scooby-Doo.
The film grossed $275 million worldwide and prompted a sequel two years later.
The most recent Scooby-Doo film was 2020 animated movie Scoob!, which featured a stellar cast featuring Will Arnett, Mark Wahlberg, Amanda Seyfried, Jason Isaacs, Zac Efron and Gina Rodriguez.
However, Scoob! performed disappointingly both commercially and critically, and a sequel which had already been finished ended up being shelved.
