Ricky Gervais’ home town has named a rubbish truck after him and he’s not down in the dumps about it at all

No, it's not Slough

Towns and cities have all manner of ways of paying homage to their famous names and faces but we have to admit, the Ricky Gervais rubbish truck has to be one of the most British ways to honour one of your own we've ever seen. Gervais shared the image of the truck driven around by Reading's resident bin men on social media on Thursday, remarking: "Is there any greater honour than your hometown naming a garbage truck after you?" https://twitter.com/rickygervais/status/1545080291911507969?s=20&t=46fqXF7iGP3rxVVri5hQiQ The majority of those in the comments seemed to get a kick out of it as well, quipping things like “You’ve arrived”, but some joked it could be taken one of two ways: “Ricky Ricky you've landed it! Your name on a lorry in these times means you're a legend (or a polished turd meh!)”. Boxer Tony Bellew even chimed in with the roast I'm sure plenty of you were all thinking:

The 61-year-old comedian may have ironically and rather beautifully sang about his love of Slough in David Brent: Life on the Road, not to mention reciting everyone's favourite John Betjeman poem (yeah, you know the one...), but he was actually born in the town of Whitley, Reading, back in 1961.
