Truth be told, we're going to miss the most sadistic character in The North, but the actor who played him, the charming Iwan Rheon, is more than happy to speak about his favourite Game of Thrones memories.
The Welsh actor was a guest at the recent Con of Thrones and he revealed the gruesome scene that he's most proud of. Unsurprisingly, it arrives during the Battle of the Bastards.
Poor Rickon Stark, he never saw those arrow coming!
"Everyone’s saying do a zig-zag, do a zig-zag! That’s not gonna work," Rheon said. "I think that was my favorite. That was really harsh, but it was clever; he did it for a reason, to draw Jon Snow out — and it worked."
Rheon also admitted that he drew inspiration from three performances when preparing for the role.
Heath Ledger's iconic performance as The Joker in The Dark Knight had a masisve impact on the star of Misfits and Inhumans star because Rheon says that that he was drawn to The Joker in terms of "how difficult he is to read, and how maniacal he could be and how he could just turn around and kill someone."
Given the fact that we now know that Ramsay's decision to kill Roose Bolton was not premeditated but rather pure instinct, it's impossible not to agree with that statement.
While The Joker is a magnificent maniac, there are two other strange sources of inspiration that inspired Rheon's performance as the head of House Bolton.
"I took the walk from Liam Gallagher and his mischievous side from Dennis the Menace. Those were the three influences for Ramsay Bolton."
We're going to miss him...and those dogs.
Game of Thrones Season 7 premieres exclusively on 17 July on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV at 2am, repeated at 9pm on the same day.
