Piers Morgan says he will quit Good Morning Britain ‘next year’ in Ant McPartlin rant

Good Morning Britain viewers will have to live without Piers Morgan for a whole year if the loudmouth presenter is beaten to a National Television Award by Ant McPartlin. Tuesday night will contain one of the most eagerly awaited Best Presenter categories in recent years as Ant & Dec are up for a potential 18th win in a row against Morgan, despite Ant having spent the year away from our screens while battling alcoholism. "Sorry, but how did that happen? Dec, sure he's put a shift in. Us? Hundreds of days at the coalface every morning," moaned Morgan on Tuesday's edition of GMB. "Imagine if Ant McPartlin actually wins tonight and we don't. Walking the dog for a year, television personality of the year. Me. Coalface. Every morning, hours on end, week after week. Nothing. Not a dickie bird." Given that Ant may be set to win the gong having taken a year off, Morgan threatened to do the same in a tirade alongside co-host Susannah Reid, who never actually made the 42-strong longlist of presenters nominated. "Imagine, Britain, if you think that is a reasonable way to conduct the awards season business," continued Morgan. "If it is, I'm taking next year off, I'm going to walk my dog. I don't even have a dog, but if I did have a dog, I would take it for a long walk every day in the expectation the British public would then vote for me, as presenter of the year, for dog walking. "I intend to do that, if I can find a dog. I'll borrow my mother's dog." Ant was banned from driving for 20 months in March of 2018 after pleading guilty to drink-driving following a traffic collision. Shortly after, he announced that he was taking time off from presenting duties and was temporarily replaced on I'm A Celebrity... by Holly Willoughby.
