One of the best historical dramas of recent years is on Film4 tonight at 9pm.
The 2021 historical dram, The Last Duel, which was filmed in Ireland and directed by Ridley Scott takes the prime-time slot on the channel tonight.
The film set in Medieval France is based on the 2004 book by Eric Jager called The Last Duel: A True Story of Crime, Scandal, and Trial by Combat in Medieval France.
It stars Matt Damon as Jean de Carrouges, a knight who challenges his former friend, squire Jacques le Gris, played by Adam Driver, to a judicial duel after Jean's wife, Marguerite (Jodie Comer) accuses Jacques of raping her.
The events leading up to the duel are divided into three distinct chapters, reflecting the contradictory perspectives of the three main characters.
Ben Affleck also stars in a supporting role as Count Pierre d'Alencon.
