A mother has filed a lawsuit against toy company Mattel after a mistake on their packaging resulted in her child accessing a pornography website.
The packaging blunder was spotted last month and led to the a range of Wicked dolls being recalled on 11 November.
However, that was too little too late for the mother of a young daughter who had visited an adult entertainment website by using a link printed on the back of the Glinda (played by Ariana Grande in the film) doll's packaging.
Holly Ricketson from South Carolina has filed a class action lawsuit in Los Angeles. According to court documents, Ms Ricketson claimed that her child showed her hardcore photographs and both were "horrified" by what they saw, suffering emotional distress.
Ms Ricketson said she would not have bought the doll had she known about the mistake and claimed Mattel had not offered a refund despite recalling the dolls.
The lawsuit said the dolls were packaged in boxes with an "inexcusable error" and seeks at least $5m (£3.94m) in damages for anyone in the US who bought Wicked dolls with the error on their packaging.
It accuses Mattel of negligence, selling products unfit for sale, and violating California consumer protection laws.
Last month, the toy giant issued an apology for the X-rated mistake, stating that they “deeply regret” the error and are taking action to ensure no future dolls feature the incorrect URL on their packaging.
The musical based on the book by Winnie Holzman is a classic and as well as being previously adapted into theatre, will be hitting the big screen on the 22 November.
The film stars singer Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo as the two main characters, while also featuring Jeff Goldblum as The Wizard.
