One of the biggest dramas of the year is being turned into one

If you thought you'd seen enough Harry and Meghan stories, wait for this one: they're turning 'Megxit' into a movie. No, seriously - just imagine a feature-length version of The Crown but there'll be smartphones and some poor bugger will probably have to play Piers Morgan. The project will be made by Lifetime, the American TV and film company partly owned by Disney, who have been making those terrible, day-time TV/straight to DVD, bargain bin movies for over 30 years. You'll most likely find them alongside those weird Hallmark Christmas movies after you've been scrolling through Netflix for five hours. In a statement from the network, they have said that the film "Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace [ugh] reveals what really happened inside the palace that drove Harry and Meghan to leave everything behind in order to make a future for themselves and their son Archie". "The movie will detail Meghan’s growing isolation and sadness, their disappointment that 'The Firm' was not defending them against the press’s attacks and Harry's fear that history would repeat itself and he would not be able to protect his wife and son from the same forces that caused his mother's untimely death. "Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace will also reveal the private family feuds between Will and Harry, Kate and Meghan, and Harry with Will and Charles, that lead to the ultimate break from the royal ties." Oh, by the way, this isn't even the first movie they've made about Harry and Meghan. They've made two. The first in the Sussex-related series of films, Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance, was back in 2018 and depicted a fictionalised version of the two met. The sequel the year after, Harry & Meghan: Becoming Royal, was all about the Royal wedding and their early days of marriage. No, we don't have a review for you. This third instalment is set for a fall release this year and it is still unknown whether any of the previous four actors will be reprising their roles. Yeah, they had to recast one movie in. On the other hand, Menhaj Huda and Scarlett Lacey - director and writer of the first two films, respectively, are expected to return. It is yet unclear how far up to date the film will go in terms of dramatising the couple's experiences, but we'd be surprised if it didn't touch upon the infamous Oprah interview in some way. After all, that's where so many of these Royal revelations were laid bare. It's worth noting that although the film will no doubt be made available here, Lifetime is a US production company and both this film and the previous ones were heavily aimed at American audiences. Be honest, most of you never know these films existed until now. So, don't be surprised if you get the full soap opera package when it releases.
