Littlefinger reveals who he wants to end up on the Iron Throne

The biggest schemer in Game of Thrones finally tells the truth.

When it comes to Game of Thrones, playing the good guy must have its struggles because they inevitably end up dead via some some horrific and gruesome attack. Getting people to loath you is even harder because as much as we love to hate Ramsay Bolton and Joffrey Baratheon, there's no denying that their characters are evil bastards. The hardest thing though is toeing the line between heroism and villainy, which is why we absolutely love Aidan Gillen's performance as the Machiavellian schemer, Littlefinger. Even though we're entering Season 7, audiences are still left wondering about Peter Baelish's intentions because despite the fact that he rallied the Knights of the Vale to help Jon and Sansa during the Battle of the Bastards, we all know that he's usually two steps ahead of everyone else. He's always plotting and scheming. We expect nothing else from him in Season 7. After all, he did warn us that "chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is. But they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.” At this stage, he has been climbing better than anyone else. The trailer for Season 7 has promised some heated words between Jon Snow and Littlefinger, but with the end of the show in sight, Gillen was asked who he wanted to end up on the Iron Throne. Speaking with the Serbian newspaper Blic, he said: "I’ve always been a fan of Cersei and she’s already there because of her determination." If the first official Queen of the Andals and the First Men is usurped of her throne - Daenerys might have something to do with that - Gillen has also offered an alternative ruler. "If I can, I would also add Arya, Sansa and myself," he said. Mmm, typical Littlefinger strategy. Always have a back-up in place, just in case your first choice doesn't work out! Aside from this, Gillen also revealed more details about the relationship between his character and Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) in the upcoming episodes. "My character continues to build his relationship with Sansa . His relationship evolves after this season into something new and something that the viewers have not seen before." Do we trust him? Absolutely not! Game of Thrones Season 7 premieres exclusively on 17 July on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV at 2am, repeated at 9pm on the same day.
