Kit Harington ‘will be returning as Jon Snow’ for Game of Thrones sequel

While the conclusion to Game of Thrones may have left a somewhat sour taste in people's mouths, the story isn't over - as we now have confirmation that Kit Harington is returning as Jon Snow in an upcoming sequel. The 35-year-old is set to reprise his role as the White Wolf and the former King in the North according to an exclusive by The Hollywood Reporter which hints that HBO are hoping to find success with character-related stand alone and spin-off series not unlike the Star Wars and Marvel shows on Disney+ [caption id="attachment_342388" align="alignnone" width="1000"] Credit: HBO[/caption] Although we know next to nothing about the show other than the fact it takes place after the events of Game of Thrones (and perhaps what author George R. R. Martin has in store for the ending of his novels), this will be one of seven different GoT-related projects in the works by the studio. One we can expect to see soon is the prequel series, House of the Dragon, which debuts on August 21 and takes place 200 years before the events of Thrones, detailing the civil war within House Targaryen and starring the likes of Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Paddy Considine and Rhys Ifans. [caption id="attachment_342392" align="alignnone" width="1472"] Credit: HBO - It was ages ago now, no spoiler warnings for you[/caption] Meanwhile, tracking back to the Jon Snow series, it's been four years since Harington last donned the thick fur coat and leather armour and just slightly less since we saw how his story ended as Daenerys plunged into madness like her father before her — or so we thought. As it would seem, the half-Stark half-Targaryen has at least one more exciting chapter yet to unfold. There is currently no release date for the spin-off nor is there any indication as to a title or whether original GoT showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss will be involved but as this story progresses, we'll surely know more soon.
