He explained: "I was driving back from my parents' house, and I was going too fast, I was over the speed-limit. I hear the sirens go off behind me, and this police man pulls me over. I was a bit sheepish saying, 'Sorry, I didn't realise how fast I was going'. The officer said, 'You do realise how fast you were going? That's a bookable offence'. "Then he said, 'Look, there's two ways we can do this: follow me back to the police station now and I'll book you in, or you can tell me if you live in the next series of Game Of Thrones. I laughed, but his face was like stone. He said, 'I have to tell you, whether I bring you in to the station depends on what answer you give. So I looked at him and said, 'Erm, I'm alive next season', and he said, 'Hmm. On your way, Lord Commander'."
This is the latest anecdote from Harington about the eight-month experience of keeping one of the biggest secrets in TV history. After Snow's fate was official revealed to the world two weeks ago, Harington apologised for all his lies and misdirection, telling EW:
"I’d like to say sorry for lying to everyone. I’m glad that people were upset that he died. I think my biggest fear was that people were not going to care. Or it would just be, ‘Fine, Jon Snow’s dead.’ But it seems like people had a similar to the Red Wedding episode, kind of grief about it. Which means something I’m doing — or the show is doing — is right.”What's your best story about avoiding a speeding fine or parking ticket? Email us: Hello@JOE.co.uk, or message us on Facebook.
