Johnny Depp seemingly criticises Amber Heard in new album songs

Johnny Depp appears to make reference to his ex-wife Amber Heard in lyrics featured in two original songs included in his new album with musician Jeff Beck. Following his recent high profile defamation case against his former wife Heard, 36, Depp, 59, joined musician Jeff Beck on a string of shows that saw him pop up unexpectedly in a number of venues across the UK. Now, the actor - who recently won his televised case against Heard, receiving around $10m (£8m) in compensatory damages and a further $5m (£4m) in punitive damages - has recorded an album with his new touring partner. While not officially released until Friday July 15, early reviews are starting to pour in and, as you might expect, many are listening with eager ears, keen to see if the Pirates of the Caribbean star makes any reference to his former spouse. Thanks to an early review from The Sunday Times, some believe that Depp has indeed spoken out about his recent courtroom experience in the lyrics to two newly-penned original songs that feature on the 13 track collection entitled "18" - despite the actor-turned-singer making no confirmation about who or what he is actually speaking about. “I think you’ve said enough for one motherf***ing night," reads a line of prose from one original track - one of just two bespoke songs amid a collection of covers from bands like The Beach Boys and The Velvet Underground and singer Lou Reed. On a second track, this one entitled "Sad Motherf***ing Parade", Depp reportedly sings: “You’re sitting there like a dog with a seven-year itch." He adds: “If I had a dime, it wouldn’t reach your hand.” While it remains unclear what the focus of these lyrics truly are, many online have begun to speculate for themselves. Depp sued Heard for defamation damages following an opinion piece that she wrote in 2018 for The Washington Post on the subject of domestic abuse. While not specifically named within the article, Depp's lawyers argued that the star ultimately lost work because of its publication. Since the pair's court case concluded in late May, Heard's attorney has since suggested that her client may be unable to pay the damages that she owes Depp. Meanwhile, Depp is said to have donated proceeds from a recent NFT sale to a number of charities, including the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles.
