Watching TV over a bank holiday is a precise business, and you would do well to spend your evening on Freeview, watching Jason Statham kick people in the head. If no one wants to join you in a beer garden now the sun's gone down, it might be the best way to spend your evening. The Transporter is a 2002 film starring Jason Statham and is probably the actor's second best film, after Crank of course. Playing driver for hire Frank Martin, Statham is a mercenary "transporter" who will deliver anything, anywhere, no questions asked, for the right price. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0poXFSvX0_4 The high-octane action thriller sees Frank find his life in serious danger when he allows his curiosity to get the better of him, breaking the golden rule of his job in the process. On the wrong side of one Darren Bettencourt, played by Matt Schulze of The Fast and the Furious fame, Frank is soon thrust into the dark world of human trafficking. The film is written by the team behind Taken, one of whom is versatile action director Luc Besson, responsible for the likes of Leon. Receiving no critical acclaim, a standout The Transporter review by Eric Harrison, of the Houston Chronicle, reads: "It's junk with a capital J. The sooner you realise that, the more quickly you can settle down to enjoying it." The Transporter is on E4 at 9.00pm on Saturday May 5.
